Resiliency

Region 9 plays a role in helping counties PLAN FOR AND IMPLEMENT RESILIENCE

All communities, whether those in locations likely to experience significant natural disasters or those dealing with immediate or pending economic shifts from something like the COVID-19 pandemic, can be more resilient if they recognize their vulnerabilities. They can develop goals, strategies, and actions that mitigate the effects of an economic incident and support long-term recovery efforts.

While there is no perfect blueprint for building economic resilience, the best place to start is right where you are!

Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS):

Region 9 facilitates the update of the Southwest Colorado regional comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) every five years and is currently in process of an update. Resiliency is a key component of each community’s priority projects and goals for the 2021 version; playbook for engaging in a collaborative, region-wide transformation of the economy in order to raise productivity, create wealth, and increase prosperity for residents. A CEDS is the result of a “regionally-owned” planning process designed to guide the economic prosperity and resiliency of a region.
